Jolly Buoy Island in Andaman Islands

Jolly Buoy Island is yet another famous island of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It is also very famous for under water corals and the pristine clear beach. To reach Jolly buoy island people have to come to Wandoor beach. This is located in Mahatma Gandhi National Park. This journey is a memorable journey for the thick forest surrounding the clear pristine sea. It is one to one and half hour journey from Wandoor beach. Visitors can enjoy the underwater coral view through snorkeling , Scuba diving or from the glass bottom boat. There is no accommodation available. Night Stay is not allowed and the visitors have to come back to the mainland by the end of the day.

Jolly buoy Island is very famous for underwater corals and the pristine clear beach. This place is one hour journey from Wandoor beach. Snorkeling and scuba diving are available here. To reach Jolly buoy island people have to come to Wandoor beach. This is located in Mahatma Gandhi National Park. Wandoor beach is 30 Kms from Port Blair by road. This route is same for visiting Red Skin island also. Both Jolly buoy and Red skin are located at Mahatma Gandhi National park. The normal time leaving to Jolly buoy Island at Wandoor beach is 9.00am. Make sure to reach Wandoor beach before 9.00am. All the ships leave at the same time and come back together. The island is very small, so there is nowhere to go . The Tourism Department has built changing rooms and toilets. There are also some thatched shades made on the beach to relax.

The location is quiet scenic. There is no pollution, no plastic and no construction on the island. The beach is small but beautiful with extremely clear water. There are flowers growing along the beach and the thatched shades blend in nicely with the surroundings. The whole picture is one of tropical paradise.

Some rides are for 15 minutes, some for 30 minutes and some for 1 Hour. We personally recommend you to go with the longest duration one. The route to Jollybouy is same for visiting Red Skin Island also. Both Jolly buoy and Red skin are located at Mahatma Gandhi National park.

How to reach

Jolly Buoy is located in national park. Visitors can take a taxi from Port Blair to Wandoor Beach and then take a ferry from the beach to reach Jolly Buoy Island. Reach Wandoor Beach early as most ferries to the island leave around 9 am.

Chidiya Tapu is located about 25 kms from main Port Blair city and is well connected by road. It is the southernmost point of South Andaman district. Port Blair. From Port Blair, the journey would take around one hour to reach Chidiya tapu. It is a very famous for sunset view and for bird watching. One can easily reach here by hiring a cab. The best time to visit is in summers as that is when you have clear sky and a lovely myriad of sunset colors in the sky.

For adventure lovers Chidiya Tapu has a little more to offer. A trekking trail, which passes through forest and beautiful coast line to reach the Munda Pahad (Black Mountain).

Red Skin is a part of Mahatma Gandhi National Park having underwater garden and unspoiled beaches. The sea also has dolphins playing in the water.
